Prevents accidental blade exposure. To ensure that PenBlade’s sharp blade is exposed only when you want it to be, the safety stop is designed to prevent blade exposure if the device is dropped or bumped.
Expose the blade with a simple motion. Blade exposure is accomplished using one of the most familiar actions people know — that of a click pen. Just hold PenBlade in one hand and press the button down with your thumb. If you need to use PenBlade after retracting the blade, simply re-expose the blade the same way.
Allows for a controlled, confident cut. Stability and comfort are of paramount importance when using a scalpel. The PenBlade shaft is designed to fit a natural grip while resisting bending.
Active or passive auto blade retraction. PenBlade’s no-look blade retraction helps keep surgical staff safe when passing or disposing. For the recommended “passive” retraction, simply press the button down while cutting, and the blade retracts automatically when you let go. If making multiple incisions, just press and release the button for “active” retraction when finished.
With visibility in mind. PenBlade’s tip is tapered to allow cutting an incision without straining to see behind a bulky blade housing.
A truely novel feature. PenBlade’s safety-suture-trimming groove allows the user to cut suture without exposing the blade. This “two-sharps-in-one” design eliminates the need for scissors to cut suture.
With exposed-blade color indicator. PenBlade comes with a choice of a #10, #11, or #15 blade. Whatever blade you are using, PenBlade’s exposed-blade color indicator will alert you to an exposed blade.
